Free CritiCall Practice Test: One Full Multitasking Run

The free CritiCall® practice test on Pass911 is one complete, timed run of audio data entry with emergency messages: the multitasking module. Sign up free, no card. You need a computer with a keyboard and headphones or speakers.

What the free run is, exactly

    • The module: data entry (audio) with the emergency-message overlay.
    • Before the clock: a headset check (test tone and volume), then untimed practice records that don't count. Practice audio can be replayed.
    • The clock: 16 minutes on our timing. Biddle publishes no per-module timing, so this one is ours, sized from the session lengths agencies publish.
    • The audio: callers dictate each record once. The first records come in screen order; later ones arrive in fragments, out of order.
    • The fields: nine, in upper case: Last Name, First Name, Telephone, Address, City, Zip, VIN, License Plate, Driver's License. Tab moves forward, Shift+Tab back.
    • The interruptions: emergency messages pop up on screen. Click Police, Fire, EMS or Utility under the rules shown, within 15 seconds. A wrong agency or a late click earns nothing, the same rule Biddle's candidate guide states.
    • How many: one free run per account.
Headset check before the audio module: test tone and volume slider.
Free Pass911 run: a dictated record going into nine upper-case fields while an emergency message counts down.

    What you get back

Practice score from our model — not a CritiCall result. Agencies set their own cut-offs, and most never show candidates a score.

Your headline numbers are open: net keystrokes per hour, field accuracy and your emergency-message tally (correct, wrong, late, missed). Under them sits your record-by-record review. The first rows are open; the rest stay blurred on a free account.

In our practice model, net keystrokes per hour counts only the characters in fields that end exactly right, per hour of active time. Data entry gets no band, because no agency we found publishes a data-entry bar. The method is public: how we score it.

Free run results: net keystrokes per hour, field accuracy and the emergency-message tally, with later review rows blurred.

    What's paid

    • Starter, $39: every module as a drill (all 13), unlimited, with full item review.
    • Elite, $69: everything in Starter, plus full timed batteries, an overall result (weakest module and unweighted average) and your percentile on each module once 30 completed runs exist.
    • Upgrade: Starter holders move to Elite for $30.

One-time payment, 12 months of access, 7-day money-back guarantee, prices in USD; the pricing page shows what Starter and Elite add, line by line.

Other free CritiCall and 911 dispatcher practice

There is no "practice test" for CritiCall, Biddle says, and it cannot give applicants the demo.

Its 2023 candidate preparation guide is free as a PDF and worth reading for the format. A PDF can't run a clock, cut in with a message or speak a caller's words, though. Practice those somewhere that keeps time.

For typing alone, our 911 dispatcher typing test is free and needs no sign-up. For every module, see the full CritiCall practice test.

    Free CritiCall practice test FAQ

Where can I find the best free CritiCall practice test?

Start with what Biddle gives away: the candidate preparation guide, for the format. Then take one full, timed run with audio and emergency messages. That's what the free run here is.

Is the free run really free?

Yes. Sign up, no card, one full run per account.

    Do I need an account?

For the free run, yes: the account saves your run. The typing test needs none.

Is there a free 911 dispatcher practice test PDF?

Biddle's candidate preparation guide is a free PDF that explains the format, including the 15-second emergency messages and the data-entry fields. It can't time you or play audio.

Can I take the free run on my phone?

No. Runs need a computer with a keyboard and headphones or speakers. On a phone you can sign up, and we'll email you the link for later.

Does the free run predict my CritiCall result?

No. Practice score from our model — not a CritiCall result. Agencies set their own cut-offs, and most never show candidates a score.
